COACH

I joined CrossFit Great Stour 11 years ago after seeing a friend share a photo of her doing a handstand in a place that didn’t look like a conventional gym. I had tried gyms before but never lasted more than a few weeks; the endless rows of cardio and cable machines felt uninviting, unsociable and boring. I had no idea what I was doing or how to train effectively, so when I didn’t see results I gave up and figured I just wasn’t a gym girl. Despite having been a sporty kid, unhealthy habits in my teenage years and early 20s began to take their toll on my health and confidence so I thought I’d give it a go.
Once I stepped into CFGS I haven’t looked back. Naively, I thought I would be quite good at CrossFit because I’d always been strong, and while that was true, I soon learned where I was severely lacking in other components of health and fitness; in particular, flexibility, stamina and endurance.
With the knowledge and guidance from the coaching team I am now moving better, fitter, stronger and more skilled than I could have ever imagined when I first started. There have been so many things I thought I was never capable of, yet have achieved them, and so many habits I’ve changed because of the mindset and environment the CrossFit methodology inspires.
I became a coach because I truly believe that CrossFit can be life changing. There is no better feeling than seeing others experience things they didn’t think they could, and becoming fitter, more confident, healthier and happier because of their efforts. As a qualified Occupational Therapist I understand first hand why people feel incapable of change, or concerned about where to start – but also I know the impact of your environment on your health, as well as how your lifestyle habits impact your health and longevity. The community within CrossFit is like no other, you are coached, encouraged and supported through every step which is why I have lasted 11 years here and why I didn’t last 11 weeks anywhere else. As a part of my journey, I also became an Athlete Mindset Coach and Life Coach for members and non-members of CFGS to develop their mindset and confidence to improve their performance and/or their lifestyle. A lot of my coaching inside and outside of the box is influenced by personal experience and growth through my CrossFit training and competing, combined with evidence-based tools and techniques.
Whether you want to improve your health, physical fitness, mental health or fancy something fun and to meet new people – CrossFit ticks all the boxes.
